Kingsbridge and Saltstone Caring hosted its first fundraising event of the year with a Spring Fashion Show at Avon Mill Garden Centre.
Over 100 people turned out to view the latest season’s trends provided by Threads Boutique. Six well known ‘local models’ braved a chill but sunny evening to show off with great panache the new range. Sue Durrant, Sam Dennis, Carol Tee, Jilly Spencer, Sue Dod and Dani Steer (pictured from left to right) brought a touch of colour and much warmth to the evening.
Interim Manager Jane Bray said: “We raised lots of money and want to thank everyone who came along; we do enjoy arranging things which support our community and you. It’s great that people help us to help others so generously and we all have fun too.”
Charity trustees and staff provided a delicious array of home-made canapes which received lots of compliments and the ticket included a free drink. A raffle proved very popular and grateful thanks were expressed to all the organisations and people who provided such generous prizes.
KASC has arranged more events in the next few months and hope to see you soon. Next up there is a Film Night on 3 May and the Creeks End Saltstone Cup Euchre Drive on 21 May. In June there is a Classic Car Rally at Gara Rock on Father’s Day, Cream Teas and Carriage Drives on the 23rd, and Thurlestone Golf Club which has adopted KASC as their charity of the year is holding a Fashion Show at the Club on the 25th. As ever the charity is seeking new volunteers as client referrals are increasing. There have been more than 20 since 1 January, most of which come to the charity from health and social care where capacity is limited. If you want to make a difference, please call the office.
