KASC were invited to attend the Three Choirs Concert at the Plymouth Guildhall in aid of the Basics Devon Charity.

Andy, Moira, Mike, Christine and her mum were present and had a lovely evening.  Three different choirs, the Kingsmen, The Callington Community Gospel Choir and the Plymouth Rock Choir all gave superb performances of a range of music from traditional, to an amazing rendition of The Buggles, Video Killed The Radio Star.

Basics Devon (basics-devon.org.uk) is a Charity consisting of a team of volunteer medics who help save lives across rural Devon and can be at your side in minutes, similar to First Responders. Through a networked team of volunteer doctors, paramedics and nurses it strives to improve patient outcomes, relieve suffering and save lives with the delivery of emergency care and education across Devon and the surrounding areas.  Please, if you can, help support this wonderful Charity.

This evening was organised by our KASC Volunteer, Ian Wooler, who is a member of The Kingsmen, and we thank him for letting us be part of the event and enlightening us to Basics Devon and what they do.

The event took it’s roots from the Chair of The Kingsmen, Barrington Sowden, who wanted to promote awareness as he recently had a medical emergency. An ambulance was not available but a Doctor and Paramedic from Basics Devon responded promptly and ensured he was treated appropriately and was subsequently able to continue his longer term recovery.
